WRTI Honored with Two Broadcasting Awards!

WRTI Station Manager Bill Johnson and WRTI Senior Arts and Culture Producer Susan Lewis accept two awards from PAB board member Jeffrey Androulonis.

The Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters presented WRTI with two awards on May 5th at their annual luncheon. Senior Arts and Culture Producer Susan Lewis, and Station Manager Bill Johnson, accepted the awards on behalf of the station at the Hershey Hotel.

Celebrating a Musician's Musician on WRTI

Wolfgang Sawallisch (1923-2013)

WRTI will broadcast a special 2005 archival Philadelphia Orchestra concert, led by Maestro Wolfgang Sawallisch (who died last February, 2013) on Sunday, January 19th at 1 pm. The program includes Hindemith’s Concert Music for Strings and Brass, Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1  in C Major.  As WRTI’s Susan Lewis reports, the Orchestra’s beloved former music director forged strong bonds with the musicians he led.

WRTI will broadcast a special 2005 archival Philadelphia Orchestra concert, led by Maestro Wolfgang Sawallisch (who died last February, 2013) on Sunday, January 19th at 1 pm. The program includes Hindemith’s Concert Music for Strings and Brass, Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1  in C Major. As WRTI’s Susan Lewis reports, the group’s late music director is remembered as a master on the podium.

Conductor Wolfgang Sawallisch led The Philadelphians from 1993 to 2003.

WRTI will broadcast a special 2005 archival Philadelphia Orchestra concert, led by Maestro Wolfgang Sawallisch (who died last February, 2013) on Sunday, January 19th at 1 pm. The program includes Hindemith’s Concert Music for Strings and Brass, Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1  in C Major.

As WRTI’s Susan Lewis reports, the ensemble’s late music director shared his musical gifts with audiences at home and abroad, leading the orchestra on eight international tours.
