The PECO Building in Center City, Philadelphia lit up the skyline on July 9th with 60th birthday wishes for WRTI. Here's the view of the electronic light display that scrolled around the building on a beautiful summer night.
You can also wish WRTI a happy 60th! Become a member for the first time, renew your yearly membership, or make an additional gift to the station in honor of our special anniversary. Thanks!
Every day the staff here at WRTI works hard to live up to the mission of giving you the best classical music and jazz experience public media can deliver. Personally, I want you to know how gratifying it is to work with such a talented and dedicated group of people. Moreover, I want to share how proud I am of the work they do.
Welcome to 2013. Besides being the year of the snake and the UN's International Year of Water Cooperation (who knew!), it bears mentioning that WRTI turns 60! On July 9, 1953, WRTI became a licensed FM radio station operating at 10 watts from Temple University's main campus in Philadelphia. Thanks to you, over the years we've grown into the largest classical music and jazz media outlet in the tri-state area.
Congratulations to Dori Spector! She's the winner of WRTI's 60th Anniversary Commemorative Artwork Competition. Dori lives in Newtown Square, PA and is a sustaining member of WRTI. She submitted an etching that, our judges felt, was a beautiful expression of WRTI's diverse cultural community and its ongoing connection to Philadelphia's tri-state region.
“All of the submissions received were truly outstanding,” says WRTI General Manager Dave Conant. "We're thankful to everyone who participated in the competition."
