Stephen Gunzenhauser

Two of our favorite guests return to Crossover this week. In their own ways they create classical concert experiences...but they endeavor to take it further than that.

The Lancaster Symphony Orchestra's new season - Energy, Exuberance & Excellence! - kicks off with two dynamic fall concert themes at the Historic Fulton Opera House. And there's a special offer just for WRTI listeners!

The internationally known conductor Stephen Gunzenhouser, music director of the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra, considers himself a musical tour guide of sorts. Makes sense when you look at his discography and see just how many recordings he's made with orchestras and ensembles worldwide.  The Capella Istropolitana, the Slovak Philharmonic, the National Orchestra of Argentina, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony of Ireland, the Polish National Radio Symphony, the Gulbenkian Orchestra, the Bogota Philharmonic, and the list goes on and on.

Join WRTI in welcoming the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra to Encore! In this first broadcast it's a mostly French program, with a little Gershwin for good measure.  We'll hear Music Director Stephen Gunzenhauser conduct Roussel's Bacchus et Ariadne Ballet Suite, the Suite No. 2 from Maurice Ravel's masterful Daphnis et Chloe, and George Gershwin's An American in ParisThis Sunday, September 16th, 3 to 5 pm.
