Three Philadelphia Ensembles Collaborate For A Landmark Performance

The Mendelssohn Club Chorus, the Philadelphia Boys Choir, and The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia are set to perform at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in a very special concert that includes the world premiere of Robert Moran’s expanded - and haunting - 9/11 tribute, Trinity Requiem.

The Philadelphia Inquirer's David Patrick Stearns looks ahead to the October 21st event, that also features Bruckner's Mass in E minor and Moran's Angele Dei.

Remembering 9/11 on WRTI

Join us on September 11th for special programming honoring the memory of all who were lost 11 years ago. We'll mark the event with Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings at 8:46 am, and Robert Moran's hauntingly beautiful Trinity Requiem at 2 pm, featuring the Trinity Youth Chorus.

Trinity Wall Street commissioned Robert Moran’s Trinity Requiem for the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 destruction of New York’s World Trade Center. Moran has written music for entire cities to perform—San Francisco, Graz, Bethlehem, Pa.—with cars, airplanes, multiple orchestras, choirs, and bands joining in raucous mélanges of celebration. You wonder what he would write for a city’s terror.
