The Philadelphia Orchestra

This week we've news of exciting developments in the Philadelphia Orchestra's summer season at the Mann Music Center. Jason Peifer visits the Media Theatre in Media, PA, as they stage Sigmund Romberg's 1924 masterpiece, The Student Prince. Susan Lewis looks at the history of fine art photography. And we discover how Orchestra 2001 had to travel to Bucharest to find the score and orchestra parts for U.S. debut of George Enescu's Chamber Symphony.

ADAM UNSWORTH, French Horn

The rafters ring with the sound of jazz as Jill speaks with Adam Unsworth. Unsworth is a French hornist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, but outside of the Kimmel Center he performs his own jazz compositions. We'll hear music from his recently released CD, Excerpt This!, as well as music he performed in the WRTI Performance Studio the day of the interview.

Jennifer Frautschi

A conversation with Jennifer Frautschi. She's in town to perform the Schumann Violin Concerto with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. Jason Peifer is at the Walnut Street Theater for Trying--the true story of a Philadelphia icon Francis Biddle. We look ahead to Antigony, a new work from the Rebecca Davis Dance Company, featuring a multi-national cast of dancers. Albert Stumm examines support systems for newly graduated fine artists.
