On Sunday June 2nd, WRTI, ICON magazine, Jacobs Music, The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, and Drum Workshop join forces to sponsor "An Afternoon of Jazz and Classical Music." WRTI's Bob Perkins will play host to jazz vocalist Paula Johns, The All-Star Jazz Quartet featuring Bruce Klauber, Andy Kahn, Bruce Kaminsky and Asher Stein, The Musicopia Student Drum Line, pianist Hanchien Lee from The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, and other guests.
Join Bob Perkins from 6 to 9 pm as he brings you more of his jazz favorites...but without the seasonal flair. BP will kick off your New Year's Eve festivities with the music he enjoys the most, and the reasoning behind his fascination with certain artists and tunes. Whether he interviewed the artist, emceed a show, or shared a phone call with someone connected to the music, you can hear the story of why BP’s list looks and sounds the way that it does.
Celebrate the New Year by embracing stories from the past, and of course, by listening to the GM!
Regular readers of this site know that we both support and enjoy a good relationship with WXPN. But the fact is, we have never really mentioned our fondness for one of Philly's other public-ish radio stations, WRTI 90.1FM. Yes, the Temple University-based jazz and classical station that you - yes, probably YOU - totally take for granted.
