CBS News feature about the Wanamaker Organ:

Macy’s Grand Court organist Peter Richard Conte presents three works selected from two wonderful concerts on this month's Wanamaker Organ Hour, Sunday, November 6th at 5 pm.

This week on the Wanamaker Organ Hour, host Peter Richard Conte welcomes back organist and flugelhornist Andrew Ennis as special guest. On the broadcast will be music they’ve performed on the Wanamaker Organ as soloists and together in four-hand arrangements. Plus, Peter accompanies Andrew on flugelhorn, the softer, mellower cousin of the trumpet, on a few works.

In a special re-broadcast this Sunday at 5 pm on WRTI, Peter Richard Conte, host of our Wanamaker Organ Hour, performs on and emcees the Wanamaker Organ Day program, which originally aired June 4th.

Macy's Grand Court Organist Peter Richard Conte launches Season 12 of the Wanamaker Organ Hour on Sunday, February 7th, from 5 to 6 pm with all-new shows! The Wanamaker Organ is the world's largest musical instrument and one of its greatest treasures, housed in Macy's Center City and played daily every day but Sunday since 1911.

The famous Wanamaker Organ was installed in John Wanamaker's Philadelphia department store back in 1911. One hundred years later, Macy's Grand Court Organist Peter Richard Conte was accompanied by Symphony in C in the celebratory Wanamaker Organ Centennial Concert, which was recorded and released on CD last year.

Join us on Sunday, October 4th from 5 to 6 pm to hear an encore broadcast of the music from this special occasion.

The Grand Court Wanamaker symphonic organ pairs with a lesser-known member of the brass family to provide an engaging new take on old favorites of opera and classical repertoire. WRTI’s Susan Lewis has more on the pioneering sound.

The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra is featured in this month's very special Wanamaker Organ Hour on WRTI. You'll hear highlights from Wanamaker Organ Day this past June - a thrilling day of music from the Grand Court at Macy's, with organist Peter Richard Conte.

The symphonic organ had its heyday in the first half of the 20th century, when organists frequently transcribed and played works written for orchestra. As WRTI’s Susan Lewis reports, that practice is now coming back into musical fashion.

Join us for an all-new Wanamaker Organ Hour show with Peter Richard Conte and Jill Pasternak surveying two new CDs recorded with the Wanamaker Organ as part of two duets - of sorts.
