LA Opera: COSI FAN TUTTE on July 14th at 1 pm

Mozart’s delightfully comic battle of the sexes comes to life with ravishingly beautiful music and sparkling wit on Saturday, July 14th, from 1 to 4:30 pm.

The cast includes soprano Aleksandra Kurzak and bass-baritone Ildebrando D’Arcangelo.  An opera buffa (comic opera) in two acts, it was first performed in 1790. The libretto was written by Lorenzo Da Ponte – this is the third in a trilogy of librettos by Da Ponte; the others were for Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni.

LA Opera: EUGENE ONEGIN on July 7th at 1 pm

Baritone Dalibor Jenis is the title character and soprano Oksana Dyka is the young woman who sends him a love letter in LA Opera’s production of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin.

A young and impassioned country girl, Tatiana (soprano Oksana Dyka), hastily writes a love letter to the brooding aristocrat Onegin (baritone Dalibor Jenis). She unwittingly sets off an unstoppable series of events, leaving Onegin forever regretting the love he so casually spurned.

Created in 1927, this seminal masterpiece gave American musical theater and opera a new voice — one with powerful subject matter, astonishing musical variety, and an unmistakably American atmosphere. It's one memorable, heart-wrenching song after another : “Ol’ Man River”...“Make Believe”...“You Are Love”...“Bill”...“Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man.”

Vienna’s richest man is planning an incredible party - and you're invited on Saturday, June 9th from 1 to 4 pm. Join us on Saturday, May 19th, from 1 to 4 pm for Lyric Opera of Chicago's bel canto favorite, Lucia di Lammermoor. In Scotland, Lucia and Edgardo are breathlessly, desperately in love - but their two clans are bitter rivals. Lucia’s villainous brother Enrico sets out to kill his young sister’s romance. And he deploys every devious device he can muster, including lies, forgery, and, finally, the false revelation of Edgardo’s infidelity. Little wonder that Lucia is mentally crushed and destroyed, driven to madness and murder before she dies of a broken heart.
