Now is the Time

For the 11th anniversary of 9/11, listen to a work written for its 10th anniversary, on Now is the Time, Sunday, September 9th at 10 pm. The Ground Zero church, Trinity Wall Street, commissioned Robert Moran’s Trinity Requiem. We’ll hear the haunting work for youth chorus, cellos, harp, and organ, and listen to the composer in a revealing interview.

It’s one piano, two pianos, jazz, and rags on Now is the Time, Sunday, September 2nd at 10 pm. David Baker pays tribute to musician Coltrane and writer Dunbar, while Kevin Beavers has fun, and Judith Lang Zaimont gets snazzy on two pieces from her Prestidigitations album.

Trinity Wall Street commissioned Robert Moran’s Trinity Requiem for the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 destruction of New York’s World Trade Center. Moran has written music for entire cities to perform—San Francisco, Graz, Bethlehem, Pa.—with cars, airplanes, multiple orchestras, choirs, and bands joining in raucous mélanges of celebration. You wonder what he would write for a city’s terror.

It’s all saxophones on Now is the Time, Sunday, August 26th at 10 pm. Sopranos, altos, the Prism Quartet on Laganella’s Leafless Trees, accompanied by piano, harp, trumpet, and on the Crossroads Songs of Evan Chambers, piano and percussion.
