Music Director Alan Gilbert conducts the New York Philharmonic in Russian favorites, Sunday, October 28th, 3 to 5 pm. On the program, Mussorgsky's A Night on Bald Mountain, and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's hypnotic Scheherazade.  The dynamic, young Russian pianist Daniil Trifanov makes his Philharmonic debut in the colorful Piano Concerto No. 3 by Prokofiev in this program.

It's an afternoon of Chopin, Rodrigo, and Lutoslawski on our monthly Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia broadcast. Dirk Brosse conducts Chopin's Piano Concerto, No.2 in F minor. Then, it's Rodrigo's beloved Concierto de Aranjuez led by Andrew Grams, and finally Lutoslawski's Funeral Music led by Conductor Laureate Ignat Solzhenitsyn. Sunday, October 21st, 5 to 6 pm. All-French Program From the New York Philharmonic Archives: Oct. 21 at 3 pm on ENCORE!

It's all all-French program on this week's New York Philharmonic broadcast - performances drawn from the Philharmonic's vast recorded archive.  Music by Massenet that includes an historic performance by the Philharmonic conducted by Josef Stransky (who became the orchestra's music director in 1911, following the death of Gustav Mahler), and appearances by Luciano Pavarotti and mezzo-soprano Nancy Maultsby.  Also on the program, works by Clause Debussy that include the Image pour Orchestra, and Le Martyre de Saint Sebastian.

Symphony in C Starts a New Season on WRTI: Oct. 14th, 3 pm on Encore!

It's the first broadcast of the season for the acclaimed Symphony in C, and it's an exciting Sunday afternoon on WRTI.  The program starts with the 2013 winner of Symphony in C's Young Composers' Competition, a work by Douglas Buchanan. Pianist Di Wu joins the orchestra for a Rachmaninoff favorite, and the concert concludes with Tchaikovsky's final symphony.  Music Director Rossen Milanov conducts. Sunday, October 14th, 3 to 5 pm.
