Philadelphia Orchestra Concertmaster David Kim

Violinist David Kim

Violinist David Kim was named Concertmaster of The Philadelphia Orchestra in 1999. Born in Carbondale, Illinois in 1963, Kim started playing the violin at the age of three, began studies with the famed pedagogue Dorothy DeLay at the age of eight, and later received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from The Juilliard School. In 1986, he was the only American violinist to win a prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow.

Maestro Christofer Macatsoris

Music Director of The Academy of Vocal Arts since 1977, Maestro Macatsoris began his conducting career in Italy at the Conservatory in Milan. He went on to study conducting privately with such famed maestri as Fausto Cleva, Max Rudolf, and Tullio Serafin, and studied composition with Vincent Persichetti. Among his many performance credits are appearances with Philadelphia Lyric Opera Company, Pennsylvania Opera Company, San Francisco Opera Center, and numerous regional opera companies.

Flutist Robert Stallman

Flutist Robert Stallman won the George W. Chadwick Medal from the New England Conservatory of Music and received a Koussevitsky Fellowship and the C.D. Jackson Prize at Tanglewood. As a Fulbright Scholar, he studied in Paris with Jean-Pierre Rampal and since then has developed an international reputation as performer, master teacher, editor and arranger who has done much to expand the flute repertoire.

One of the most versatile pianists of his generation, Barenboim has collaborated with violinists Itzhak Perlman and Pinchas Zukerman, as well as his late wife, British cellist Jacqueline du Pr. In January 2008, his virtuosic musicianship was recognized with a Royal Philharmonic Society Gold Medal, one of the most prestigious honors in classical music.

Lidia Kaminska

Seven-time winner of national and international competitions, Kaminska has stunned audiences with her beauty, charm, and virtuosic playing of works from Bach, Scarlatti, and Astor Piazzolla to contemporary Russian composer Sophia Gubaidulina. With a MA degree from the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Kaminska was the first person in the Unites States to receive a doctoral degree in accordion performance. She plays both the accordion and bandoneon in her interview with Jill Pasternak.

Eroica Trio: Chamber Ensemble

The Eroica Trio will perform on October 24 at Puck, a small club in Doylestown
