Soprnao Joyce Didonato sings the title role in Rossini's LA CENERENTOLA, the final Met Opera broadcast in the 2013/2014 season.

The Metropolitan Opera's 2013/2014 broadcast season concludes this Saturday with Gioacchino Rossini's La Cenerentola, starring mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato in the title role, and tenor Juan Diego Flórez as her Prince Charming. Alessandro Corbelli and Luca Pisaroni complete the cast, with Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi leading the effervescent score. Saturday, May 10, 1 to 4:30 pm.

WRTI Honored with Two Broadcasting Awards!

WRTI Station Manager Bill Johnson and WRTI Senior Arts and Culture Producer Susan Lewis accept two awards from PAB board member Jeffrey Androulonis.

The Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters presented WRTI with two awards on May 5th at their annual luncheon. Senior Arts and Culture Producer Susan Lewis, and Station Manager Bill Johnson, accepted the awards on behalf of the station at the Hershey Hotel.

Celebrating C.P.E. Bach: The Sentimental Rebel

Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (March 8, 1714 – December 14, 1788)

J.S. Bach’s second-surviving son, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714-1788), was a musical force in his own right. His fame, at least after the mid-1700s, overshadowed that of his now-legendary father. This year, six German cities with ties to C.P.E.’s musical footprint in Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt (Oder), Leipzig, Potsdam, and Weimar are leading a celebration of the 300th anniversary of his birth.
