The Academy of Vocal Arts (AVA)

Scheduled on several Sundays throughout the year

The Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia is one of the world's premier institutions for training young artists as international opera soloists. Through rigorous instruction and coaching, and by presentations of Resident Artists from around the world in concerts, oratorios, public programs, and fully staged professional opera productions, AVA trains artists with high potential for career success. Many alums have gone on to high-profile careers, singing with leading opera companies including The Metropolitan Opera. Listen to live, recorded concerts of AVA Resident Artists throughout the year on WRTI.

Christofer Macatsoris conducted the full AVA Opera Orchestra, in an evening of favorite arias and ensemble pieces featuring performances by AVA Alumni and resident artists.

On Discoveries from the Fleisher Collection, Saturday, April 4th, 5-6 pm... There’s one Paul Dukas work that overshadows everything else he wrote, and that’s a shame because there’s much more to him, the 150th anniversary of whose birth is in 2015, than that.
