AVA's Winners from October 4th 2011 Giargiari Bel Canto Competition:
First Place: Tenor William Davenport
Second Place: Soprano Michelle Johnson
Audience Favorite: Soprano Michelle Johnson

The actual competition took place at the Church of the Holy Trinity on Rittenhouse Square on Oct. 4th. An expert panel of judges from the world of opera chose the winners. Master Vocal Coach Danielle Orlando directed and accompanied the vocalists.

Founded in 1979, the Giargiari Bel Canto Competition has produced many winners who have gone on to successful careers on the international opera stage, such as Stuart Neill, Stephen Costello, Eglise Gutierrez, James Valenti, Dongwon Shin, and Angela Meade.
