From the Top: A Local, Teenage Organist Makes it Big!

Sunday, January 2nd on From the Top
Organist Karen Christianson from Media, PA
2 to 3 pm

Tune in to hear the amazingly talented young organist and composer Karen Electra Christianson. She's a 15-year-old student at Episcopal Academy who also studies organ at Curtis; she's one impressive young lady! Karen made her organ performance debut at historic Christ Church in Philadelphia at age 7, and since then has performed in venues all over the world. In 2010 alone she had gigs in Italy, Greece, France, England, and the Netherlands.

Watch and Listen: A ten-year-old Karen Christianson plays Eugene Gigout's Toccata in B minor at Philadelphia's Christ Church

You can also hear Karen play the organ on January 2nd at 5 pm, when we re-air a broadcast of the Wanamaker Organ Hour from last summer, featuring students from the Macy's/Kimmel Center Youth Summer Organ Camp.
