Welcome 2021 with The Philadelphia Orchestra in Concert on Sunday, January 3rd at 1 PM and Monday, January 4th at 7 PM on WRTI HD-2. It's a festive and memorable concert from December, 2015 with Yannick Nézet-Séguin on the podium conducting a suite from Georges Bizet’s opera Carmen, and Stravinsky’s complete Firebird ballet, with lavish orchestration, including three harps! It’s a rare opportunity to hear the complete score of this revolutionary work. Also on the program is Hilary Hahn’s brilliant performance of Henri Vieuxtemps’ Violin Concerto No 4, composed while he was serving as violinist to Czar Nicholas I in St. Petersburg.
During intermission, WRTI’s Susan Lewis speaks with Hilary Hahn, and Bliss Mickelson talks backstage with Yannick.
