Jill interviews Patrick Bismuth, founder and director of the French ensemble La Tempesta. Bismuth will perform with his chamber group at the Curtis Institute of Music on Saturday, October 11 at 7 pm.
A teacher of baroque violin at the music conservatories of Paris and Versailles, Bismuth has played with major ensembles all over the world, and with renowned baroque ensembles including La Grande Ecurie et la Chambre du Roy, Les Arts Florissants, and Il Seminario.
He founded La Tempesta to discover music that had never been heard before, and to interpret masterpieces of the past. La Tempesta tours Europe with vocal and instrumental music of the 17th and 18th centuries, and defines new standards in the renewal of repertoire.
