Beijing, China (WRTI) – The Philadelphia Orchestra gave its first concert in the Chinese capital Tuesday evening. The program featured the Berlioz Roman Carnival Overture, Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances, La Valse by Ravel and the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with soloist Arabella Steinbacher. Bass Trombone Blair Bollinger, who gave a master class at the Beijing Central Conservatory, says language is not a barrier when teaching students who are not native English speakers.
