The Met Opera: Zandonai's FRANCESCA DA RIMINI, March 16 at 1 pm

Eva-Maria Westbroek and Marcello Giordani star as the tragic lovers in Riccardo Zandonai's melodic gem Francesca da Rimini, which is back on the Met stage for the first time in more than 25 years.

Beautiful Francesca is tricked into marrying the grotesque Gianciotto through a ruse involving his handsome brother, Paolo. Unfortunately, Francesca actually falls in love with Paolo, and they begin a passionate extramarital affair. Malatestino, an evil third brother, also lusts after Francesca. He discovers the affair and reveals it to Gianciotto. How does the drama end? Find out on Saturday, March 16, 1 to 5 pm on WRTI.
