The Met Opera on WRTI: Yannick Nezet-Seguin Conducts DON CARLO, April 11, 1 PM

Join us on Saturday, April 11th for our weekly broadcast of the Metropolitan Opera - live from Lincoln Center. This week, it's Verdi's DON CARLO, with Yannick Nezet-Seguin on the podium.

Ferruccio Furlanetto first sang Philip with the Met in 2005, and then again in 2010 and 2013, and has portrayed the tormented monarch around the world. His other recent roles at the Met have included Silva in Verdi’s Ernani, and Jacopo Fiesco in Simon Boccanegra, which he will reprise at the Met next season.

Ekaterina Gubanova makes her first New York appearances as Eboli, a role she sang with the Met during the company’s Japan tour in 2011. Gubanova made her Met debut in 2007 as Hélène in Prokofiev’s War and Peace. She returned in 2009 to sing Giulietta in the new production premiere of Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann and in 2011 as Giovanna Seymour in the company premiere of Donizetti’s Anna Bolena. She will reprise the latter role at the Met next January.

Dmitri Hvorostovsky has sung the role of Rodrigo 24 times with the Met between 2001 and 2013. He has performed numerous other Verdi baritone parts with the company including Anckarström in Un Ballo in Maschera, which will broadcast on May 2nd.

Earlier this season at the Met, James Morris reprised the demanding role of Hans Sachs in Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg to acclaim and sang the Commendatore in Don Giovanni. He has sung more than 950 Met performances in dozens of roles.

The intermissions will include interviews with the artists, and the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera Singers' Roundtable, featuring soprano Patricia Racette, mezzo-soprano Susan Graham, and tenor Piotr Beczala.
