Watch the recorded broadcast on the WRTI Facebook page.

PROGRAM:

  • "Skylife" by David Balakrishnan
  • "Space Oddity" by David Bowie
  • "Nuvole Bianche" by Ludovico Einaudi (arranged by the Ahn Trio)

The Ahn sisters (Lucia on piano, Angella on violin, and Maria on cello) were born in Seoul, South Korea, and educated at Juilliard.

Their creative approach to music has led to an international concert career, including a 2011 performance at the White House for a State Dinner honoring South Korea, by invitation of President Barack Obama.

The stellar list of composers who have written for them include Michael Nyman, Pat Metheny, Paul Shoenfield, Mark O’Connor, Kenji Bunch, and Nikolai Kapustin.

Their Sony album, Lullaby for my Favorite Insomniac, took the No. 8 spot on the Billboard Charts list for 26 weeks, in the Classical album category.

Not camera-shy, the photogenic Ahn Trio has graced the pages of magazines such as Time, Vogue, GQ, Glamour, and People, which named the Ahns three of the "50 Most Beautiful People" in 2003.
