Alexander Bui was described in 2010 by America's Got Talent judge Piers Morgan as "the most naturally talented person" they'd heard all year. Now embarking on a solo career, the pianist performed LIVE from the WRTI 90.1 Performance Studio and chatted with WRTI's Susan Lewis on Tuesday, July 17th.
A recent graduate with degrees from Manhattan School of Music, Alexander was born in New Jersey in 1993 to parents who had emigrated from Vietnam. He began playing piano at age 4, and studied privately for many years.
In 2010, after his audition with a YouTube video, he was selected to perform on Season 5 of America’s Got Talent.
His recent solo graduation recital at Manhattan School of Music was praised as "a dazzling display of virtuosity and temperament" by The Press of Atlantic City. He has performed as a soloist at venues around the country, including appearances with the Ocean City Pops and at the Borgata in Atlantic City. He's also an active chamber musician and church organist.
Alexander is currently pursuing his doctorate in classical piano at Rutgers University.
