Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist and pianist Karrin Allyson and radio personality Bill McGlaughlin (who is also a musician, conductor, and composer!) visited the WRTI performance studio in April and treated a few lucky guests to an amazing show. It was a fantastic afternoon in celebration of WRTI's 60th Anniversary! Join us to hear a broadcast of the session on Sunday, June 9th at 4 pm.
This special program features two very interesting artists performing solo and together, and brings the audience into the world that Allyson and McGlaughlin (host of Exploring Music with Bill McGlaughlin, heard on WRTI HD-2) have made together - filled with music and humor.
You'll hear a wide range of music in this show, including Simon and Garfunkel's "April, Come She Will," Aaron Copeland's "The Little Horses," Tom Jobim's "Estrada Branca," Faure's Dolly Suite, "Berceuse" movement no. 1, Billy Joel's "And So It Goes" with cellist Jeffrey Solow, several original songs, and more.
McGlaughlin is especially pleased to be part of this celebration because he is an alumnus of Temple University and grew up just two subway stops away from the campus. Allyson is delighted because... she just can't help herself. That's simply the way she is - every time she walks onto a stage, over 300 times a year!
Celebrate 60 years of WRTI! Tune in on June 9th at 4 PM. This special presentation truly reflects what WRTI is all about. Bob Perkins is your host.
