A good friend of WRTI returns this week. Acclaimed organ virtuoso Paul Jacobs stops by to tell us about the International Organ Competition at Longwood Gardens June 18th through 22nd. He'll be one of five judges deciding the fate of ten young organists who've been vetted, from hundreds of entries, to move on to the preliminaries. Only five will make it to the finals to compete for the $40,000 Pierre S. DuPont First Prize.

While he's with us, Paul will bring us up-to-date on the happenings since we last spoke with him in 2009. And we'll hear one of those happenings - excerpts from his new recording with the San Francisco Symphony under Michael Tilson Thomas of the Concerto for Organ and Percussion Orchestra by the late American 20th-century contemporary composer Lou Harrison.
Among his many awards, honors, and accolades - too many to list here - Jacobs is also a Grammy winner. He received the award in 2011 for for his recording of Messiaen's Livre Du Saint-Sacrement
