Dolce Suono: Exploring Music from Russia

The Philadelphia-based chamber ensemble Dolce Suono continues to explore historical connections while pushing its art form into the future. As WRTI’s Susan Lewis reports, the group's founder, Mimi Stillman, believes that music is an integral part of life.

On Sunday, December 15th at 3 pm, Dolce Suono presents "Russia Revisited" at Lenfest Hall at Curtis Institute of Music. The concert includes Prokofiev's Sonata for Piano No. 6, Op. 82, and Shostakovich's Sonata for Viola and Piano, Op. 47.

Also on the program are the U.S. premieres of Mieczyslaw Weinberg's recently re-discovered work, Five Pieces for Flute and Piano, the world premiere of David Finko's Sonata for Flute and Piano, and  Yevgeniy Sharlat's Sonata for Flute and Piano.
