Enjoy musical fireworks on the 4th of July on WRTI starting at 6 pm when we bring you three hours with the Airmen of Note, the premier jazz ensemble of the United States Air Force. This is an annual radio event that allows listeners far and wide to experience the Air Force Band's brand of Americana.
At 6 PM, the Airmen of Note will feature special guest, vocalist Nnenna Freelon, and will present various selections from The Great American Songbook.
At 7 PM, drummer Peter Erskine will join the band as they play a wide variety of jazz arrangements. From standards to Weather Report, this concert recording will hit he mark for just about anyone.
At 8 PM, trombonist Marshall Gilkes is the guest artist, and some of his own compositions will be featured, along with a few pages from the jazz songbook.

Stationed in Washington, D.C., the Airmen of Note is one of six musical ensembles that comprise The U.S. Air Force Band. Created in 1950 to continue the tradition of Major Glenn Miller's Army Air Forces dance band, the current band consists of 18 active duty Airmen musicians including one vocalist.
Through the years, the Airmen of Note has presented its own brand of big band jazz as well as more contemporary forms of jazz to audiences via annual tours across the United States, deployments around the world and local performances throughout metropolitan Washington, D.C.
