BrAVA Philadelphia! on WRTI

Sunday, April 11
3 to 5:30 pm

The Academy of Vocal Arts has produced some of the world's most brilliant opera stars - and many of them returned to Philadelphia in late March to celebrate AVA's 75th Anniversary and perform in a gala concert. Tune in or listen online on April 11th when we bring you this special concert, recorded live at the Kimmel Center. The concert featured AVA star alumni from the Metropolitan Opera and from around the world.

Soprano Angela Meade, currently rehearsing the Met's upcoming production of Armida, where she is covering Renee Fleming in the title role, will be joined by sopranos Eglise Gutierrez, Indra Thomas, and Latonia Moore. Also featured are tenors Michael Fabiano and James Valenti, who both recently made their Met debuts, and baritone Luis Ledesma.

Current resident artists, soprano Michelle B. Johnson, mezzo-soprano Margaret Mezzacappa, and baritone Alex Lawrence and the entire roster of AVA resident artists will add their voices to complete this operatic tour-de-force. AVA Music Director Christofer Macatsoris conducts the AVA Opera Orchestra.
