Announcement of 2016 Grants from Pew Center for Arts & Heritage

Robert Blackson
Temple Contemporary has won $300,000 to commission Oscar nominee and Pulitzer Prize- and Grammy Award-winning composer David Lang to create a new composition to be performed on 1,500 broken instruments gathered from Philadelphia public schools.

The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage has just announced its 2016 grants, totaling more than $10 million to support 53 artists and cultural organizations. The list of grantees includes a wide variety of artistic disciplines and work from major institutions as well as individual artists and community-driven organizations. A full list of grantees is available here.

"The talented artists and dynamic organizations that make up our 2016 grantees will enhance the cultural life of the region with exciting new projects and rich artistic voices," said Paula Marincola, the Center’s executive director. “The Center has been privileged to fund work by an extraordinary constituency of practitioners — from major civic institutions, to independent artists and curators, to artist-driven and community-based organizations — for over a decade. We look forward to the outstanding cultural experiences our newest group of grantees will bring to our community.” Congratulations to all of this year's winners!
