Sacred Music and Oratorio Masterpieces
Tune in for the AVA's annual foray into the sacred vocal repertoire featuring standards and rarities, plus an original work by AVA Music Director and Conductor David Antony Lofton. Performances by the AVA resident artists, the 100-voice New Jersey MasterChorale and the AVA Opera Orchestra. Selections from Dvorak's emotionally intense Stabat Mater, plus works by Handel, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Verdi, Bizet, Dubois, and Vaughan-Williams. You'll also hear a piece from contemporary composer John Musto's song cycle, Shadows of the Blues, based on the poetry of Langston Hughes.
